First Shipment of Recycled Glass Heading to Guayaquil From the Glass Hub!

10/2024

Last week, a new chapter began in glass management in Ecuador, with the departure of the first truck loaded with glass recovered in the Glass Hub to the manufacturing company O-I Cridesa, located in Guayaquil. They were sent 22.82 tons of this material, as a result of the Hub's first month of operations.

This Glass Hub is part of a regional initiative led by O-I Andean, in Ecuador O-I Cridesa, which seeks to massively recover glass bottles and containers that are on the market and thus make the most of existing material. Glass is a material that can be recycled in its entirety and infinite times.

The cargo, composed mainly of green, transparent and amber glass bottles and containers, represents a joint effort to reduce the environmental footprint and promote the responsible use of resources. In addition, this project and first shipment marks the commitment of ReciVeci and O-I Cridesa to strengthening inclusive recycling and the circular economy.

This glass arrived at the Hub through direct sales from basic recyclers and recyclers, intermediaries and the general public. Here, glass is purchased directly from suppliers, which also contributes to stability in the price of glass. In this way, it also represents a contribution to the work of basic recyclers since it brings stability in their price.

At ReciVeci, we celebrate this first step and continue working in partnership with O-I Cridesa to energize the glass recycling chain in the country through this Glass Hub.
