ReciVeci congratulates RENAREC on its 16 years of strengthening inclusive recycling in Ecuador

Last Thursday, December 12, we attended a luncheon to celebrate a very special anniversary: the 16th anniversary of the National Network of Recyclers of Ecuador (RENAREC), an organization that we deeply admire for its commitment, organization and tireless struggle to make visible and dignify the work of grassroots waste pickers across the country.

RENAREC, founded in 2008, brings together more than 50 associations of waste pickers and recyclers nationwide, and has worked tirelessly to promote the interests of those who play a key role in the management of recyclable waste in Ecuador.

Since its creation, RENAREC has been able to engage in important dialogues with key entities such as the Presidency of the Republic, the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion, the Institute for Popular and Solidarity Economy, municipalities, private companies, international cooperation, universities and civil society organizations. These alliances have been fundamental to promote policies and actions that strengthen the inclusion and recognition of grass-roots waste pickers.

At ReciVeci we are pleased to be your allies and it motivates us to continue working to build a culture of inclusive recycling and inclusive circular economy, where their work is increasingly recognized, valued and respected.

Happy 16 years, RENAREC! Thank you for being a fundamental pillar for basic recycling in Ecuador.
