ReciVeci fully managed recyclable waste at the Guayaquil Burger Show

10/2024

Guayaquil, July 31, 2024 — This weekend, the Burger Show in Guayaquil not only brought together hamburger lovers, but thanks to McDonald's, the event also took a step in terms of sustainability by deciding to manage, with the support of Reciveci, its responsibly generated recyclable waste.

ReciVeci organized the waste management of the Burger Show, first of all contacting promoters, who received the recyclable waste from the event and educated citizens and attendees about recycling. On the other hand, he contacted 15 local basic recyclers and recyclers, who supported the classification of waste and the transfer of the material. This time, waste pickers benefited from two associations in Guayaquil: “Los Ceibos” and “Back to Live”.

It is important to highlight that ReciVeci remunerates waste pickers for their waste collection service, in addition to providing them with all the material free of charge so that they can market it. 100% of these profits go to their associations.

During the event, 1000 kg of recyclable waste were recovered fairly and directly, without anyone having to mine in waste covers. This effort prevented the extraction of 925.44 kg of wood thanks to the recycling of cardboard, and saved 452.34 liters of crude oil by recycling plastics. In addition, emissions of 2974.5 kg of CO2-equivalent were avoided. Among the recovered materials are nearly 6000 PET containers and more than 11300 aluminum cans.

ReciVeci's participation in this event was possible thanks to McDonald's. Thanks to companies that are committed to inclusive recycling with basic recyclers as an option in their sustainability strategies!
