At ReciVeci®, we are pleased to announce that we have been creditors of funds from the Australian Embassy's Direct Aid Program (DAP). This funding will allow us to purchase supplies and materials to strengthen inclusive recycling and support the work of basic recyclers and recyclers in six neighborhoods of Quito.
The project, entitled “Community Recycling: Strengthening Grassroots Waste Pickers and Promoting the Circular Economy in Quito's Neighborhoods”, will run from April 1 to September 30, 2025 and seeks to consolidate community recycling networks, improve the working conditions of waste pickers and promote the circular economy in the city.
As part of this process, last Monday, March 24, we received a visit from Aidan O'Callaghan, Second Secretary of the Australian Embassy in Chile and member of the DAP Funding Committee, who traveled from Chile to learn more about the ReciVeci® initiative. During their tour, we visited the ReciVeci® recycling stations located in Espacio Cultural and the Parque de la Floresta (with the support of the Floresta Cultural Collective, Sacha Lodge, Casa del Suizo and Play House Coliving).
The tour was guided by Edicson Gamba, Operations Coordinator of ReciVeci®, and Lorena Gallardo, Co-founder and Manager of Technology and Innovation of ReciVeci®, and during the visit it was shared with Aidan O'Callaghan the results we generate together with the community and grassroots recyclers.
This support reinforces our commitment to more sustainable and inclusive waste management in Quito. We are still working for recycling with a social and environmental impact!
