Lorena Gallardo, co-founder and Technology and Innovation Manager at ReciVeci, was present from October 02 to 05 at the One Young World (OYW) Summit 2023 in Belfast, Ireland. This summit is held annually and brings together young leaders from around the world to create connections and positive impact solutions that act in four axes: Climate Change, Defense of Women, Mental Health and Migration.

This edition of the Summit was attended by nearly 2,000 young people from all over the world. They all have in common that they propose positive impacts and changes in their environments, ventures, companies and territories. From Ecuador, 24 representatives attended, forming one of the delegations with the largest presence at the event. Each one represented a province of the country and Lorena Gallardo was the representative of Pichincha. It should be noted that more than 700 people applied in the call and Pichincha was the most competitive province, with more than 130 applications.

The assistance of young Ecuadorians was made possible thanks to the National Youth United in Action Award 2023, managed by the Office of the First Lady and the Resurgere Foundation, in partnership with the One Young World Summit, which allowed young people to participate in the event. After participating, each of these young people becomes a One Young World Ambassador, making them ambassadors for this Summit.

YOUNG PEOPLE AND OUTSTANDING PROJECTS

From ReciVeci, we are grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in the Climate Change axis, and also to have met other young people and inspiring projects that are here in our country. Among some of them, we can mention that of Doménica Cobo, representative of the province of Azuay, with your project Xellas joints, a platform that seeks to connect volunteers who provide free mental health care with women in situations of vulnerability; she participated in the Mental Health axis of the Summit.

Jenko del Rosario, representative of the province of El Oro with your project Photosenses Ecuador, a social inclusion project through multisensory photography for people with visual disabilities; he also participated in the Mental Health axis. Also Vinicio Narankas, representative of the province of Orellana, with its “Achakaspi” Indigenous School project, which seeks to strengthen community organization to address environmental challenges; its axis was Climate Change. Another notable project along the same lines is that of Juan Fernando Pesántez, representative of the province of Manabí, with your project “Ocean Academy”, which seeks to promote ocean conservation and education. You can see all the participants in the accounts of Ecuador One Heart.

RECIVECI PRESENT AT THE 100+ ACCELERATOR WORKSHOP

A very special invitation was given through the Accelerator 100+ to Lorena Gallardo to give a workshop on ReciveCI and how we promote inclusive recycling and the circular economy in Ecuador, within the framework of the Workshop “Scaling Sustainability: Collaborative Solutions for a Regenerative Future”.

Accelerator 100+ is an international innovation and acceleration program that seeks to promote progress and innovation by supporting ventures that solve challenges related to the value chain. It is sponsored by AB InBev, Coca-Cola, Colgate-Palmolive and Unilever, and ReciVeci was part of the 3rd Cohort of the program, in 2022. The Workshop was attended by companies and entrepreneurs from various parts of the world motivated to learn what we have achieved with ReciVeci and ReciApp in Ecuador.

OTHER PARTICIPATIONS

We are also pleased to have attended several workshops, including the one on Artificial Intelligence, an area that is part of ReciveCI's long-term projections. At the workshop, Lorena had the opportunity to use ReciApp as an example and obtained feedback on the paths we could take from artificial intelligence to enhance the technological tools available to promote inclusive recycling.

At ReciVeci we celebrate these meetings, which translate into growth not only for the attendees, but also for the territories and spaces we inhabit. Congratulations! by the Ecuadorian delegation and Lorena Gallardo from ReciVeci present at One Young World 2023.
