Project overview

To ensure the proper use of the collection space known as Recicentro and the project’s launch, ReciVeci, in collaboration with the Tulcán municipal government and UNICEF, implemented several effective actions that resulted in the formation of over 20 local recyclers working in a dignified and safe environment. First, data collection was conducted in Tulcán, registering recyclers and mapping the stakeholders involved in the recyclable waste management chain. Next, consultancy was provided for operational space adaptation, acquisition of work tools, and improvement of water and sanitation infrastructure. Additionally, the capacities of participating recyclers were strengthened through workshops and discussions on financial education, sexual and reproductive health, and management of recyclable solid waste, among other topics. Finally, collection routes were designed with established schedules and frequencies.
