Project overview

In August 2024, Danec S.A. and Empaqplast S.A., in collaboration with ReciVeci, initiated a study to evaluate the recyclability of two types of plastic containers primarily used for 'Palma de Oro' vegetable oil. ReciVeci, a company with extensive experience in recyclable waste management, applied the ASTRX methodology, a qualitative and semi-quantitative approach that analyzes the product supply chain from a local perspective. This involves considering each link in the chain and the dynamics of the recycling market in Ecuador. This methodology identifies the main actors involved and the logistical barriers that hinder recycling. The main objective of the study is to determine if these plastic containers can be effectively recycled and what actions are necessary to improve their recyclability. By analyzing the supply chain from the final consumer market to post-consumer collection, we aim to identify opportunities to optimize processes and promote their recovery and reprocessing.
