Project overview

Tulcán Recicla Para la Vida is an inclusive recycling project that involves local people and people in situations of human mobility, citizen co-responsibility and environmental care. It is led by the Municipal Gad of Tulcan and supported by international cooperation. In this second phase of the project, ReciVeci's mission is to ensure the operation of the “Recicentro” collection center and the psychosocial strengthening of basic waste pickers. To meet the requirements of the project, a manual of internal processes and regulations was developed in order to socialize them with basic recyclers and establish guidelines for better work. In addition, the operations carried out inside and outside the Recicenter were accompanied for 6 months. Finally, a baseline was established that allows the regularization of the association of basic waste pickers, in addition to providing psychological support to the families who are recycling the project. All the impacts generated were measured through social and environmental indicators that allowed the optimization of activities to obtain better performance.
