Glass is a fully recyclable material because it can be reprocessed an unlimited number of times without losing its properties. But what happens if the glass is broken? Before you think about throwing that material away, keep reading to learn how to properly recycle broken glass containers.
It's true that broken glass poses a danger to basic recyclers, as they may encounter it while handling waste to recover recyclables. That's why it's important to take it out separately, wrapped and marked to avoid sharp ends. Do it like this:
- Wrap broken glass in paper (newspaper or kraft) or old cloth to prevent them from being scattered and hurting someone. For everyone's safety, always wrap broken glass before discarding it.
- Place a label on the wrapper stating “careful, broken glass”.
- If it's glass bottles or food containers, you already know that they are 100% recyclable. Go to one of the ReciveCi stations and place in the glass container. In the green container you can deposit any container, bottle or cup made of green, transparent, brown or any color glass.
By recycling it you reduce your environmental impact. Don't wait any longer! It starts now.
